About the author

The first story I ever wrote was a mystery that became a mystery.

The Mystery

I wrote my first full story in elementary school, a Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mystery that earned me a top grade. I’d love to share the story, but it mysteriously vanished between being graded and handed back to me.

(Cue the ominous music.)

The Aftermath

Fearing my mysterious ability to transform fictional stories into reality, I spent the next two plus decades (yikes, was it really that long?!) steering clear of writing fictional stories.

Writing non-fiction was a much safer bet and didn’t seem plagued by the same nefarious magical abilities.

(Great power, great responsibility.)

The Present

Somewhere along the line, something sparked inside me, rekindling my desire to write fictional stories.

Fearing the resurgence of my mysterious writing powers that brought my mystery story to life, I ventured into safer fictional waters than before: fantasy and paranormal romance.

(Tongue, meet cheek.)

Fortunately or unfortunately (I’m not really sure which I truly prefer), I’ve yet to encounter a Fae or werewolf during any of my backcountry hikes. But I will keep writing, just in case they need my magical power’s help transitioning from fiction to reality, and hopefully that’ll get me on their good side.

Note: this author is a fond promoter of laughter and finding joy in the simple things.
